Starvation diets and myths
The fads of dieting keep coming and going but there is something which weight losers have never stopped trying. It is known as starvation diets. As the name suggests starvation diets are all about making your body starve so that you don't consume food. The general thinking is that by not eating, no calories or fat is being consumed by the body. Hence weight loss would be obvious. Starving is not a part of any modern day diet.
The biggest myth about starvation diets are that they help to lose weight. This is completely untrue because these diets make you put on more weight. Starvation diets involve a procedure of not eating. Initially the body would lose some weight because it is not getting the required amount of food and needs to absorb the same from its fat deposits. But as the starvation period continues the body starts to prepare a defense mechanism. In this process the body absorbs more fat and calories from the food provided. It is not possible for the body to survive without food forever and even you can't continue to starve forever. Hence as the body starts to get food again, the defense mechanism becomes more active and you begin to put on weight.
Another myth about starvation diets are that they help you to detoxify which is again untrue. The best way to detoxify is through eating fibrous vegetables and fruits which flush out the toxins from your body. There are various kinds of fibrous foods like cereals, whole wheat and other similar forms of food. Apart from that salad, raw fruits and veggies are the ideal way to detoxify.
Starvation diets will only get you more health problems like acidity, gastric problems, fatigue, dizziness and malnutrition. Hence it is always suggested to eat healthy rather than starve.
