BCCI Description

The Rich Sports Authority

BCCI or the Board of Control for Cricket in India is the highest authority and also the apex governing body for the game of cricket in India. The BCCI was formed in 1929 when the foundation of cricket was in a nutshell in India. At present it is a society, in the form of a private club consortium that is registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. In this respect it should be mentioned, in spite of the presence for decades, it is only in the recent years owing to the huge interest of the merchantile corporations in the game of cricket BCCI has come into prominence. However, as a member of the International Cricket Council or the ICC, it has the authority to make the selection of players, umpires and officials to participate in international events and exercises total control over them. It is to be mentioned that without its recognition no competitive cricket involving BCCI-contracted Indian players can be hosted within or outside the country.
